Hand Hygiene Day Celebration in SKMCA

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA) Infection Control Team organized World Hand Hygiene Day on 13th May 2024 as part of the ongoing efforts to promote hand hygiene awareness and infection prevention. This event was an ice-breaking session between the 2nd year BSN students, staff of SKMCA as well as community engagement activities among the patient population.

Twelve second year BSN students from GMU  organized various activities to emphasize the critical importance of hand hygiene in the OPD premises of SKMCA. The activities included Hand coloring event, Spotting the difference, Video on Handwashing steps, Dart game – “Hit the Micrograms” for the kids, Quiz for the staff nurses, and presentation of Evidence Based Hand Hygiene Practices. Interprofessional collaboration was exhibited by Higher Diploma in Pre- Clinical Sciences (HDPCS) first year students by joining in research paper presentation. There was a bustling attendance of nursing staff, administrative staff and patients who attended the OPD. All the participants were given a handwashing kit and a message written on it.

A special token of appreciation was awarded by Mr. Peter Makowski, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to the College of Nursing, Gulf Medical University for the invaluable contribution towards the World Hand Hygiene Day Celebrations.
