The Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) at Gulf Medical University organized the Annual GMU Research Day 2025 on April 15th and 16th, 2025.
Professor. Manda Venkatramana, Acting Chancellor – GMU, delivered the welcome address. Professor Salem Chouaib, Vice Chancellor for Research – GMU and Director of Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicinegave the Introductory remarks on the significance of GMU Research Day Celebration, and the research activities carried out at GMU specially at TRIPM.

The Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Arsela Prelaj , AI Head of AI-ON-LAB at Instituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan, Italy. Her talk was on Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Care: From Research to Implementation.
This year’s Research Day celebration was marked by the Announcement of the ‘Thumbay International Research Grant Winners’, which was presented to 14 recipients, GMU, who will be involved with collaborative studies with researchers around the globe. The awards were given by His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Crown Prince of Ajman, UAE & Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council who was the chief guest for the event.

The Research Day witnessed the culmination of research from all colleges at GMU as well as the clinical research at Thumbay Hospitals. A total of 30 research projects were presented by faculty members which included two Faculty talks from College of Nursing – Dr Soma Ibrahim Ali and Dr Veena M Joseph. This year one student talk from each college was an added feature, from College of Nursing, Ms Rahaf presented on their research group project.137 posters were displayed and presented, which included 16 posters from College of Nursing. The posters presented by the students covered observational and experimental studies conducted at GMU, including TRIPM, research laboratories at different colleges, and the University hospitals.

Dr. Mary Walton, Assistant Professor from College of Nursing was recognized for her research publications in 2023 and 2024 and was awarded with a Certificate of Recognition during the valedictory ceremony culminating the research Day celebration. CoN – Certificate of Research Recognition .
Ms. Blessie Christopher, Ms. Dina Ehab Aly Abderkader and Ms. Noora HY Rabee D, second year RNBSN students were awarded the Best Poster Award for College of Nursing CoN Best Research Poster Award
