The College of Nursing at Gulf Medical University organized an impactful career advising session titled “From Classroom to Career: Crafting CVs and Acing Interviews” on 25th April 2025. The session was led by Ms. Nawal Al Balooshi, a highly regarded HR expert and career coach.
The session was highly informative and interactive, featuring lively activities, practical tips, and real-world examples. Final-year BSN students attended the session in person, while MSN and RN-BSN students joined online via Zoom to benefit from the event.
Students learned practical strategies on building ATS-friendly CVs, preparing for interviews, maintaining professionalism and composure during interviews, and optimizing LinkedIn profiles. Key aspects discussed included body language, manner of sitting, communication style, and avoiding common CV rejection errors.
A major highlight was a special interactive activity: students were asked to check the bottom of the chairs for hidden chit papers with career-related questions. Those who answered correctly were invited to contact Fursaty Careers to receive a free CV and LinkedIn profile makeover. Three students were recognized for their outstanding responses and awarded this special opportunity.
The session concluded with a lively question-and-answer segment where students clarified doubts about interview handling, CV customization, and networking strategies. The session was highly beneficial, equipping students with real-world career skills to confidently transition into their professional nursing careers.
