The faculty development workshop was organized by the College of Nursing on 18th October 2024 and the key speaker was Dr. Ibrahim Elsayed, Dean of Quality Assurance & Institutional Effectiveness. The workshop focused on Digital logbooks & Digital assessments.

The main objective of the workshop was to demonstrate to Digital assessment module and the digital logbook. The digital assessment module offers faculty members a range of powerful tools to enhance their evaluation process. It enables them to build rubrics quickly, duplicate them for use in different exams or courses, and add up to five evaluators for moderation purposes. Faculty can assess various skills through OSCE, DOCEE, presentations, research submissions, role plays, case studies, lab reports, PBL, projects, simulations, and oral exams—mainly areas that are not being able to be assessed by Exam Soft. Additionally, the module supports mobile device use during exams, addressing Moodle’s lack of mobile friendliness. It ensures no unmarked criteria are missed before releasing marks, allows for seamless sharing of marks and feedback with students in one click’ It aids in the measurement of the achievement.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) across multiple assessments (beyond just MCQs, which are captured by Exam Soft), and efficiently export grades into an Excel format compatible with Moodle.

The Digital logbook module allows students to efficiently fill in their logbooks, primarily focusing on clinical cases, and include structured reflections. They can send each case to two evaluators for review, ensuring a thorough evaluation process. In return, students receive detailed feedback and marks from each evaluator, facilitating continuous learning and improvement.

The Faculty Development Workshop on Digital Assessment and Digital Logbook, using the Caspio platform, was highly informative and impactful. The session effectively showcased how digital tools can streamline assessment processes and enhance the tracking of student performance. Faculty members from various Colleges gained valuable insights into utilizing technology to improve educational outcomes.
