GMU takes great pride to announce two of its College of Nursing Advisory Board members being inducted among 250 distinguished Nurse leaders into the 2022 Class of Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing. The newest Fellows represent 35 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 17 countries.

Dr. Sumaya Mohammed Alblooshi, BSN, MSN, PhD, is the first Emirati Nurse administrator to be inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Nursing for her untiring and immense contribution for the development & transformation of the Nursing Profession in UAE.
She is the President of Emirates Nursing Association and Director of Nursing Department, Emirates Health Services. She also leads the National Nursing & Midwifery Strategy in the UAE, leads the taskforce committee for Cabinet Initiative (Attractiveness of Nursing Profession).
Dr. Sumaya Is an Awardee of Emirates Pride Medal for Mohammed Bin Rashid Government 2017; Community serving Medal 2020; Best Government Communication Campaign in promoting nursing profession (2018). “Pioneer Nurse” at the Global Health Pioneer Awards.
GMU is proud to also add that she is the Advisory Board member of GMU & Adjunct faculty of the College of Nursing at GMU.
Dr. Leah Macaden, PhD, MSc [N], BSc[N], RN, RM, SFHEA, CF, NTF is the first Indian Nurse Academician in UK to be inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Nursing for her outstanding contributions to health and health care through education by harnessing technology, innovation and collaboration with interdisciplinary experts to codesign educational resources to support three key areas in the care of older people: dementia; dignity and sensory impairments with national/international significance, reach and impact. GMU is proud to add that she is an International Advisory Board member of College of Nursing at GMU.
Leah has also been recognized as a National Teaching Fellow in September 2022 – a high profile national award that recognizes, rewards and celebrates individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and Higher education in the United Kingdom.
