“World Handwashing Day” is celebrated on 15th of October every year with an aim to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing to prevent diseases and save lives. Aligning with this aim, a group of MBBS students organized an event at the Gulf Medical University campus on 14th October 2019 for the GMU community which include not only the students and staff of various health professions but also the ancillary staff employed in the campus to raise awareness of the significance of daily personal hygiene and promote good habits in healthcare environment.

The day celebrations included students demonstrating proper technique of hand washing, presentations and other fun-filled activities stressing the importance of hand hygiene.

They brought about a positive change in the university campus by fixing posters of proper handwashing techniques in the washrooms of the university. The students and staff practised handwashing and won prizes when they demonstrated the correct technique to do the hand wash.
It was such a fun filled day in which everyone learnt how to keep their hands clean !!!.
