Thumbay Hospital, Ajman [previously GMC Hospital] is the Teaching Hospital of Gulf Medical University recognized by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, UAE for clinical and internship training. Our affiliated clinical training sites include Umm Al Quwain Hospital, UAQ and Primary Health Centers under the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi under Abu Dhabi Health Authority (SEHA).
These teaching hospitals offer general and specialty services to the community in and around the Emirate in which it is located in addition to training the MBBS students especially during clerkship years and interns. Students are posted in the Ambulatory Healthcare facilities called ‘Thumbay Clinics’ located in the community during preclinical years as part of the early patient contact.
The Gulf Medical University and its Healthcare Division are both owned by the Thumbay Group which is unique to GMU. The establishment of the “Gulf Medical University Academic Health System” has allowed the integration of GMU’s triple mission of health professions education, research and clinical care at all levels.
