1st year medical students observe World Alzheimer’s Day

“World Alzheimer’s Day” is celebrated on 21st September every year as a part of World Alzheimer’s Month.  It’s aims to raise awareness on Alzheimer disease, which is the most common form of dementia, which causes problems with memory, thinking ability and behavior. Aligned with this aim, a group of First Year MBBS students organized an event at the Gulf Medical University campus for the immediate community which included students and staff. The emphasis of the event was to increase the awareness about this disease in the community.

The students used different activities including poster exhibition, games, presentation and quizzes. The games were focused on memory retention and detection of early signs of this disease.  The students of other programs such as the dental, physiotherapy, pharmacy, and biomedical sciences also had a chance to participate in their actives, developing their inter-professional skills.
