Workshop on Good Documentation Practices in Pharmacovigilance for Pharmacy Interns

On Friday, 12th September 2025, the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University organized a workshop on Good Documentation Practices in Pharmacovigilance for final-year PharmD, Postgraduate PharmD, and Master in Clinical Pharmacy students commencing their clinical rotations in hospitals. The session, held at Thumbay University Hospital, featured expert speakers including Dr. Juny Sebastian, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, along with Dr. Selma Castell and Dr. Ruth Alex, Clinical Preceptors at Gulf Medical University and practicing pharmacists at Thumbay University Hospital.

The workshop highlighted the critical role of pharmacovigilance in protecting patient health, with a strong emphasis on the importance of accurate and comprehensive documentation. Students were introduced to best practices in recording and reporting, underscoring how meticulous documentation directly supports patient safety. A practical session on adverse drug reactions and medication error reporting further equipped participants with essential skills for their clinical practice. The event not only enhanced the students’ competencies but also reflected Gulf Medical University’s commitment to advancing excellence in pharmacy education and practice.
