Dr. Sumaya Mohammed Abbas Al-Blooshi is a distinguished nursing leader in the UAE, currently serving as the Director of Nursing at the Ministry of Health and Prevention since 2015. She holds over two decades of experience in clinical nursing, management, and public health, including prior leadership as Director of Nursing at Kuwaiti Hospital.

Her academic journey began with a Diploma in Nursing from the Fujairah Institute of Nursing (1999), followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Sharjah (2002). She went on to earn a Certificate in Nursing and Health Care Leadership and Management from McMaster University (2002), a Master’s in Quality Management from Wollongong University (2004), a Master’s in Critical Care Nursing from Jordan University (2010), a PhD in Nursing Philosophy from Jordan University (2015), and a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (2017).

Dr. Sumaya is known for her leadership in national health initiatives, international representation, and advancement of nursing research and quality improvement. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a recipient of the Emirates Pride Medal in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the profession.
