Lung cancer remains a significant global health concern, affecting countless individuals. However, through education, prevention, and community support, we can make a meaningful difference in combating this disease. November, recognized as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, serves as a crucial time to unite in raising awareness, promoting preventive measures such as smoking cessation and early detection, and encouraging healthier lifestyles.

The 2021 and 2023 cohorts of the BSN program collaborated to educate and inspire action, empowering individuals to protect their lung health and support others in doing the same. On 26th November 2024, the students visited Acero Building Systems in Dubai to conduct a comprehensive awareness program for the employees.

Using posters, they explained the causes and risk factors of lung cancer, alarming symptoms, and the detrimental effects of smoking on lung health. The program included interactive sessions where participants learned simple lung exercises designed to boost lung capacity and improve overall lung health. Engaging games reinforced the importance of lung health while encouraging audience participation.

Health stations offering BP and BMI measurements were particularly popular, providing practical insights into personal health. Approximately 70–80 employees participated, expressing positive feedback about the event’s impact. For the students, this initiative underscored the transformative value of promoting health awareness and adopting hands-on approaches to community education.
