The ‘Obstetric Life Support Workshop’ was conducted on 09th December 2023 at CASH, Gulf Medical University. The workshop aimed to equip healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and skills to manage maternal collapse effectively during Obstetric emergencies. This workshop was organized by faculty of College of Nursing, GMU and this event brought together midwives, nurses and student nurses dedicated to improving maternal outcomes.
The key topics covered during the workshop included causes of maternal collapse, physiological changes during maternal collapse, ethical consideration during this critical event, team communication, coordination and finally resuscitation techniques. The participants were divided into three groups and simulated scenarios were given. Hands-on training in obstetric life support was provided to the participants and on completion debriefing and feedback sessions were conducted.
Participants actively engaged in group discussion, case studies and practical sessions. The interactive format allowed exchange of ideas and experiences among the nursing professionals fostering a collaborative learning environment. The event served as a platform for networking and collaborating among nursing personnels of various hospitals, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary approach to maternal care.
