GMU College of Pharmacy Participates in the 9th Annual GCC Pharmacy Congress

GCC Pharmacy Congress is an annual event that gather pharmacy professionals from all around the Gulf region with the aim to familiarize the attendees with the latest technologies used to improve healthcare outcomes, highlight key solutions to the challenges, facing the profession in our region and covers a variety of topics including leadership, Pharmacoeconomics, pharmacy automation and technology updates, oncology, cardiology, pain management, general pharmacotherapy and more. This year marks the 9th version of this congress and it was held in Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai, UAE. During the 2 days period, October 28-29 2022, more than 40 speakers shared their expertise and the latest updates across the diverse pharmacy fields over several sessions with diverse topics.

From Gulf Medical University – College of Pharmacy, The Dean and Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement, Prof. Sherief Khalifa was invited as a speaker on “Mitigating the Challenges Facing the Pharmacy Profession: The Pivotal Role of Academic Institutions.” Additionally, Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Pharmacist, Fellow, Lecturer and Director of the College’s Student Happiness Center, was a speaker on: “Nephroprotective Medications in CKD Patients: The Past, The Present and The Future.” Fifth year PharmD students also attended the event in order to enhance their pharmacotherapy knowledge, expand their professional network as well as learn the latest advancements in their profession.
