The Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) at Gulf Medical University organized the Annual GMU Research Day on 21st and 22nd December 2021. This event witnessed the culmination of research from all colleges at GMU as well clinical research at Thumbay Hospital. A total of 42 research projects were presented by faculty members and 54 posters were displayed and presented by students, these covered observational and experimental studies conducted at GMU, including TRIPM, research laboratories at different colleges, and the University hospital. Students, faculty, and researchers participated and showcased their research outcomes and perspectives.
Two International Keynote Speakers presented at the Research Day: Prof. Pierre Corvol, Professor Emeritus at the Collège de France, and President of the French Academy of Sciences, spoke about Scientific Integrity and ethics in research. Prof. Giorgio Trinchieri MD, Professor at the Laboratory of Integrative Cancer Immunology, Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health, discussed targeting the Microbiome in cancer immunotherapy.
