College of Pharmacy, Drug Discovery Lab Hosts Gems High School Students for Future Scientist of UAE Program in its Second Round

On 17th April 2021, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University started a research rotation for students from GEMS-GMU Future Scientist of UAE Program in the drug discovery and development lab virtually. The session was conducted Dr. Reham Khaled who is a Teaching Assistants undertaking a Master degree in Drug Discovery and Development at the College of pharmacy. The rotation, under the guidance of Dr. Eman El-labbad, Assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences started with an introductory session explaining the scope of pharmaceutical sciences research in drug discovery. Later, an explanatory session about the experiment that students will learn in the field of pharmaceutical organic chemistry was provided, followed by demonstrating a video and giving them a thorough explanation about the procedure and calculations that follow the experiment.

The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Sherief Khalifa commented: We are proud to participate in inculcating the research culture in high school students of the UAE and in placing them on track to become future scientists.
