“Nursing Now” Global Campaign 2018-20

In collaboration with the World Health Organization, the International Council of Nurses launched a three-year global campaign (2018-2020) named as “Nursing Now”.

It aims to improve health by raising the profile and status of nursing worldwide. Nursing Now seeks to empower nurses to take their place at the heart of tackling 21st Century health challenges and maximize their contribution to achieving Universal Health Coverage.

The campaign will focus on five core areas:

  • Ensuring that nurses and midwives have a more prominent voice in health policy-making;
  • Encouraging greater investment in the nursing workforce;
  • Recruiting more nurses into leadership positions;
  • Conducting research that helps determine where nurses can have the greatest impact;
  • Sharing of best nursing practices

Accordance with the global campaign “Nursing Now” United Arab Emirates has formed a National level committee of  Nursing leaders.  Dr. Reetha Ismail, Professor & Acting Dean, College of Nursing is a member in the National level committee.  After a series of meetings & planning the official launching of “Nursing Now” campaign UAE joining with ICN/WHO is decided to be on February 25th 2019.

The theme of the “Nursing Now” campaign UAE is “Working Together to Promote Nursing and Achieve Universal Health Coverage”
