Dr. Jayakumary Muttappallymyalil completed her MBBS in 1993 and MD in Community Medicine in 1998 from Bangalore University, India. She was awarded Ph.D. in Community Medicine (Infectious diseases) in 2017 by the University of Kerala, India. She worked as an Assistant professor from 1998 to 2003, as an associate professor from 2003 to 2007, as a professor and head from 2007 to 2009 at the department of community medicine, Government Medical College, Kannur, Kerala. In 2009 she joined Gulf Medical University, Ajman, United Arab Emirates.

She teaches undergraduate courses such as MBBS, ADPCS, BScHME and postgraduate courses such as MPH. Her area of research interest involves Determinants of health, non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, and micro and macro-environmental factors that may influence the individual’s health. Her research involves intercollege collaborations and collaborations with regional and international institutions across the globe.

She is one of the coauthors of the paper that received the prestigious Sri Kallu Ram Memorial Young Male Scientist Award for the best paper presented in the National Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine in the year 2005 and received three Best Paper awards for the papers presented in the National Conferences. She is one of the coauthors of the paper that received the Sri R N Roy Best Paper award for the Best Paper published in the Indian Journal of Public Health (2003). She received nine international scholarships and six travel grants to participate and present papers at various international conferences. She has 120 publications to her credit; presented 70 papers and chaired sessions at national and international conferences. She supervises Public Health Ph.D. students of Texila American University. She is an Adjunct Faculty for the University of Arizona, the United States of America.
