GMU Master in Clinical Pharmacy thesis work of Sahar Elnajjar in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) and Washington State University (WSU) experts resulted in one of the first UAE national-level guidance on the choice of parenteral nutrition (PN). The thesis work was conducted by visiting all major hospitals in UAE compounding Parenteral Nutrition. Ms. Sahar and her research supervisors Dr. Dixon Thomas (GMU), Dr. Osama Tabbara (CCAD, currently leading IVPN network) and Prof. Danial Baker (WSU) thank all hospitals who contributed to the SWOT analysis. Dr. Kimberly McKeirnan of WSU was the external examiner for this thesis defense.

Based on national-level SWOT analysis, a set of recommendations was prepared using the GRADE system (classification of quality of evidence and strength of recommendation). Feedback on the SWOT analysis and recommendations were collected from the PN providers. Ms. Sahar presented the research findings in American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacy, and IVPN conferences.
Vice Chancellor for Quality & Global Engagement, Dean College of Pharmacy, Professor Sherief Khalifa appreciated the team for the collaborative publication. Research like this contributes to consensus clinical decision making and builds local expertise with international benchmarking.
