Seminar on the Importance of the Clinical Pharmacist in Managing Cardiovascular Diseases

Dr. Asim Ahmed Elnour from Fatima College of Health Sciences presented a seminar at Gulf Medical University, Ajman on November 21, 2018. This was part of the Seminar Series organized by the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University. The topic presented was “The patronage of the Clinical Pharmacist in Cardiology.”

Dr. Elnour started his presentation by explaining one of the recent meta-analysis he published with a renowned group of health professionals titled as “Patient Adherence to Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs) for the Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation and Occurrence of Associated Bleeding Events: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.” He then connected the related studies his team published in Cardiology and explained how Clinical Pharmacists improve cardiovascular clinical outcomes. The presentation was a combination of different research methods used by pharmacists and strategies of practice that decreased drug-related problems.

Dr. Elnour is a well-known clinical pharmacist, academician and researcher in pharmacy. He has been an advocate of promoting pharmacy practice in UAE. The seminar resulted in an active discussion by the faculty and preceptors on improving pharmacy practice.
