On the eve of World Health Day, April 7, 2018, final year Doctor of Pharmacy students organized a patient education program at Kenz Hypermarket in Hamidiya, Ajman. This event was organized by the College of Pharmacy in collaboration with Thumbay Group Pharmacies and the Nursing Department at Gulf Medical University. Pharmacy students displayed education posters and educated the general public on antimicrobial use, over-the-counter medications and chronic disease prevention. Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood pressure measurements were also taken as part of the educational program. Student activities were supervised by College of Pharmacy faculty members. In this collaborative and inter-professional education event, a registered nurse performed random blood glucose checking for the visitors. This event was an opportunity for GMU pharmacy students to exercise patient advocacy and to work with their fellow nursing students to advance the health of the public in Ajman, UAE.
