The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University played a key role in the recently concluded Young Health Professional Summer Experience 2025, an immersive program aimed at high school students (Grades 9–12) aspiring to pursue careers in healthcare. Organized by Gulf Medical University and the Thumbay Institute of Clinical Simulation & Surgical Skills, the program provided students with practical exposure to different health professions through simulations, hospital visits, and interactive workshops.

As part of this initiative, the College of Pharmacy hosted two dedicated training sessions on July 25 and August 15, 2025, under the theme:
“Exploring the Diversity of Pharmacy: From Laboratory to Bedside Patient Care”
The sessions began with a welcome address by the Dean/Associate Dean, followed by a guided tour of the pharmacy-based laboratories, including the Drug Discovery and Innovation Laboratory and the Sterile Compounding Laboratory. Students participated in a series of engaging, hands-on activities:
- Compounding workshops where students prepared aspirin and calamine lotion complemented by interactive questions and prizes.
- Pharmacy practice simulations, which included practical vaccination preparation using simulation arms, and various pharmacy practice related hands-on activities in the pharmacy practice laboratory.
The sessions allowed students to rotate between activities and gain valuable insights into pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice.
Through its active participation, the College of Pharmacy successfully showcased the diverse roles of pharmacists in healthcare, from research and compounding to patient-centered care, and reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
