College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University launched its Mentor-Based Student Portfolio. This e-portfolio serves as a tool to assess the student’s progression longitudinally throughout the 5 years of the PharmD program. The students upload signature assignments, personalized reflections and videos of their work reflecting program educational outcomes that are aligned with Centre of Advanced Pharmacy Education (CAPE) educational domains. College of Pharmacy Faculty serve as mentors for PharmD students providing guidance and coaching during their educational journey in pursuit of program competencies. In this regard, the College of Pharmacy delivered a student development workshop “Introduction to PharmD portfolio”.

The session started with an introductory talk by Dr. Eman El-labbad, Director of Student Happiness Center titled “Portfolio as a Tool for Driving Self-directed Competency Development “. During the session, Dr. Eman discussed with the students and faculty, the value of e-portfolio as a student self-assessment tool, characterizing the role of mentor in student development and progression towards achieving PharmD program competencies.

Dr. Dixon Thomas. Associate Dean Clinical described “CAPE Educational Outcomes as Competency Framework for the Pharmacy Program. “During the session, Dr. Dixon elaborated on the utilization of CAPE outcomes to guide student progression in the PharmD Program.

Year 3 PharmD student, Ms. Fathima Sheik shared her reflections on e-portfolio as a tool for demonstrating her progression in achieving program outcomes through sharing samples of her own signature assignments that were mapped to CAPE educational outcomes.

Mr. Suraj K Sebastian- E-Learning Manager & IT Lecturer delivered training on using google site as a tool to construct an e-portfolio.
