GMU’s Samiullah Shabbir Presents his Research at DUPHAT 2021

On April 7th, 2021, Mr. Samiullah Shabbir, Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development student, and Teaching Assistant, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, GMU participated in DUPHAT 2021, by professional poster “Analyzing the pathophysiological impact of several programmed cell death mechanisms on cancer cells: apoptosis, autophagy, methuosis, ferroptosis and lysosomal permeabilization”.  The poster demonstrated various cell death mechanisms like apoptosis, autophagy, methuosis, ferroptosis, and lysosomal permeabilization are involved in cancer cell lines. Strategies utilizing one or more programmed cell death would help us understand the functionality of cancer cells, paving the way for discovering new treatments targeting specific proteins.

This project is guided and supervised by Prof. Ahmed Al-Abd, Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, GMU. The project also involves Ms. Fathima Sheikh Kather, Ms. Judit Don, and Mr. Ishaaq Aba Bagnan, PharmD students at the College of Pharmacy.
