GMU’s Dr. Diana Malaeb: A Panelist in the Professional Pharmacy Student Development Discussion

On September 24, 2023 in a significant stride towards advancing and developing the professional skills among pharmacy students, Dr. Diana Malaeb, clinical assistant professor at the pharmacy practice department, Gulf Medical University, was invited as a panelist in the “Professional Pharmacy Student Development” as part of a 3-day program organized jointly by  IVPN-Student and IVPN-Global Health listservs. Among the students leading this project was Victor Muwanga (The leader of Public Health section of IVPN-Student listserv). Among the moderators was Dr. Ruth Alex, a GMU PharmD graduate and current clinical preceptor at Thumbay University Hospital (TUH).

The panel discussion was designed to address the multifaceted aspects of professional pharmacy student development, covering areas such as clinical skills, leadership, research, and patient care. The panel discussion centered also on the different strategies that pharmacy students should be prepared with to exert an impact on the global health.

Dr. Malaeb, with previous experience in pharmacy education and research, delivered many insightful messages for the attendees. Dr. Malaeb provided tips into the evolving landscape of pharmacy education and the pivotal role it plays in shaping the future of healthcare.

Dr. Malaeb remarked and gave a message for the pharmacy students to keep on working on themselves through engaging in research, pursing other degrees, and passing board exams.
