GMU’s Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini Participates in the First Regional MESPEN Congress

Middle Eastern Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Congress (MESPEN) is the first regional society that emphasizes on the crucial values of parenteral and enteral nutrition (PEN) inpatient care and emphasize on the importance of clinical nutrition practices among specialized healthcare providers such as physicians, pharmacists, clinical dietitians, and nurses.

The first edition of the MESPEN congress took place in Abu Dhabi on May 13th – 15th, 2022. Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University & Clinical Preceptor/Pharmacist, Thumbay University Hospital, represented GMU COP in this conference and participated as a delegate where he networked with many nutrition support specialists from different healthcare disciplines, learned new, best practices in this field and brought new ideas and promising collaborations with local partners to enhance the delivery of “Clinical Problems in Parenteral Nutrition and IV Therapy” elective course that Dr. El Ouweini is teaching for the 3rd year PharmD students. This congress also was an eye-opening for new ideas to activate the first-of-its-kind academic sterile compounding lab present in GMU COP.
