GMU’s College of Pharmacy joins Membership of International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)

This May, the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) joined the Academic Institution Membership of FIP. [Link]

FIP is the global body representing pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical education. Through its 144 national organizations, academic institutional members and individual members, FIP represent over four million pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and pharmaceutical educators around the world. Founded in 1912, FIP is a non-governmental organization with its head office in the Netherlands.

The College offers a Doctor of Pharmacy “PharmD” entry-to-practice program, first in UAE since 2008 and a Master in Clinical Pharmacy program that offers several areas of specialization including cardiology, infectious diseases, parenteral nutrition, and others. Both programs are accredited by Commission for Academic Accreditation, UAE and the PharmD program is under certification by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, USA.

Over the years, the College has developed key partnerships and clinical training agreements with numerous healthcare facilities and pharmaceutical industries across UAE and abroad. Examples of such collaborations are with Thumbay Hospitals, Clinics and Pharmacies, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman, Tawam Hospital, Al Ain, Julphar Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries and the US institutions Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Iowa, and University of Saint Joseph.

Dean Sherief Khalifa will be representing the College in Global Academic Leaders Forum at 79th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences on 22 – 26 September 2019 Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
