GMU Pharmacy Students Enhance their Skills in Pharmacy Automation at Becton Dickinson’s (BD) Safety and Clinical Excellence Lab

On November 19th, Year Four Pharm.D. students from Gulf Medical University (GMU) had the privilege of visiting the Safety and Clinical Excellence Lab at Becton Dickinson (BD) in Dubai. BD, a globally renowned leader in medical technology, is committed to developing innovative solutions for next-generation diagnostics and therapeutic applications. During the visit, students actively engaged in live demonstrations and hands-on sessions on medication supply and refill systems, dispensing robots, and IV workflow solutions. The sessions were led by Khalid Abdel Dayem, Senior Manager of Automation and Informatics Services at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Pharmacy Services Department, along with the marketing team of BD. The students gained invaluable practical insights into the application of pharmacy automation, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world implementation.
