
The 4th Abu Dhabi Pharmacy Conference is organized from April 25 to 26, 2019 at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi. Gulf Medical University (GMU) Master in Clinical Pharmacy (MCP) and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students participate in the Conference along with faculty members and preceptors. The theme of the conference was “Innovations in pharmacy”. Several national and international speakers presented seminars that were based on artificial intelligence, disruptive technologies, block chain technologies in transforming precision medicine and innovations in pharmacy. Additional interesting topics include best practice of teaching pharmacogenetics and advances in pharmacoeconomic evaluations in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and formulary management. The panel discussions followed by seminars concluded on take-home messages to help organizations improve their business performance, use data more intelligently, and understand the implications of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchains, and automation.

Mr. Muhammed Zainool Abedeen and Mr. Harikrishnan Sreedharan presents a research poster titled, “Opinion of community pharmacists in Ajman on the International Pharmaceutical Federation’s Pharmaceutical Workforce Development Goals” with supervision of Dr. Dixon Thomas, Chair Department of Pharmacy Practice, GMU.
Dr. Dixon commented, “Innovations in Pharmacy Practice is a course in GMU MCP curriculum. Abu Dhabi Pharmacy Conference focusing on innovation is preparing us towards 79th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, 22 – 26 September 2019 Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates themed New horizons for pharmacy – Navigating winds of change.”
