GMU College of Pharmacy Organizes a Clinical Seminar on Parenteral Nutrition

As part of the clinical seminars series that GMU College of Pharmacy provides to its APPE students, Dr. Rami Diab, IV and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Pharmacist in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City-Ajman (SKMC-A), was invited to deliver a live session titled: “Parenteral Nutrition: From Theory To Practice.” During this seminar, Dr. Diab explained the indications for enteral and parenteral nutrition in hospitalized patients. Additionally, he discussed with APPE students the components of commercial TPN products and the proper compounding techniques of TPN in the hospital sterile compounding areas. Finally, Dr. Rami ended his seminar with a Q&As session about controversial topics in TPN field of practice with the students.

This seminar builds on the fruitful partnership between GMU College of Pharmacy and SKMC-A where APPE students spend one month of their 10-months clinical training year in the pharmacy department of SKMC-A and gain the hands-on experience when rotating in various units within the SKMC-A pharmacy department.
