Future University in Egypt Students completed one month of rotation at GMU’s Campus Hospital

On July 28th, 2025, pharmacy students from Future University in Egypt (FUE) completed their one-month international clinical rotation at GMU’s campus hospital, Thumbay University Hospital. This student exchange program was designed to foster international collaboration and experiential learning.

The training program was meticulously organized and conducted by the GMU College of Pharmacy, with experienced clinical pharmacists serving as dedicated preceptors. Under their guidance, the visiting students engaged in a wide range of hands-on clinical pharmacy activities. These included patient medication history taking, medication reconciliation, prescription verification, chemotherapy compounding, and discharge medication counseling. The immersive experience allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, enhancing their clinical decision-making and communication skills.

Throughout the month-long program, the students were integrated into multidisciplinary healthcare teams, participating in ward rounds and case discussions. They gained valuable insights into the UAE’s healthcare system and the role of clinical pharmacists in optimizing patient outcomes. The training emphasized evidence-based practice, patient safety, and interprofessional collaboration—core competencies that align with GMU’s commitment to producing globally competent healthcare professionals.

This exchange program reflects GMU’s dedication to internationalization and academic excellence. By creating opportunities for cross-border learning and cultural exchange, GMU continues to empower future pharmacists with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive in a global healthcare landscape.
