Fighting resistant microbes with natural substances: An opportunity for collaborative research

On January 15, 2020 Dr. Sameh Soliman, Assistant Professor of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, University of Sharjah, contributed to College of Pharmacy, GMU Seminar series. His talk was titled: “Back to Nature: UAE Plants-Based Products as Promising Drugs against Multi-Drugs Resistant microbes. Dr. Soliman is the project leader in chemical ecology and biotechnology of medicinal plants growing in the UAE. He is engaged in the discovery and development of effective antimicrobials from UAE natural resources and in optimising their biological activities.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Abd, Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Gulf Medical University discussed with Dr. Soliman different ideas of research collaboration on drug discovery and development with a focus on infectious diseases and oncology.

Dean Khalifa said: We look forward to collaborative research aiming at finding new therapies originating from UAE natural environment  for the benefit of the patients of UAE and the whole region.
