
On April 9, 2019, Dr. Lisa Brennan, Assistant Professor, Wingate University School of Pharmacy, USA and Dr. Sally Arif, Associate Professor, Midwestern University, Chicago, visited GMU with a team of their students.
Dr. Lisa presented a seminar titled “Applying clinical guidelines to optimize clinical decision-making”. The seminar was attended by Students from Wingate University, North Carolina, Midwestern University, Chicago and Gulf Medical University, Ajman. It included case discussions where students from all three PharmD programs participated.
The team of pharmacy faculty and students were given a tour of GMU facilities including the state-of-the-art simulation center and the pharmacy practice labs as well as the major APPE training sites including Thumbay Hospital, Ajman and the new Thumbay University Hospital.
The visit was very much appreciated by all and is expected to open doors for collaboration between all three institutions in areas of student exchange, faculty exchange and faculty development.
Dean Khalifa commented: We are delighted to meet with faculty and students from two prominent colleges of pharmacy in the USA. We can see how similar we are and how we can work together to improve pharmacy education and practice around the world.
