
On January 4, 2018 the College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LIFEPharma, a leading pharmaceutical company in the UAE. The agreement aims at developing academic and professional ties to enhance teaching and learning, advance collaborative research and strengthen the positive impact on their communities. Both institutions agreed to work together towards mutual benefit of their respective institutions and the UAE society.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Sherief Khalifa, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at GMU and Dr. Magdy Fahim, CEO of LIFEPharma, in the presence of Prof. Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of GMU.
As per the MoU, the students of the College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy program will receive training at LIFEPharma, in various aspects including formulation, quality control, pharmaceutical analysis, and pharmaceutical marketing.
Prof. Hossam Hamdy said that the University is glad to develop a strategic alliance with LIFEPharma as this would open up more hands-on training opportunities for GMU’s PharmD students.
Prof. Sherief Khalifa said that the partnership with a pharmaceutical company like LIFEPharma is greatly valued by faculty and students. It will provide additional options for students during their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences. He also mentioned that Pharmacy faculty members are eager to work with LIFEPharma on collaborative research that targets drug formulation, pharmaceutical analysis and quality control.
