On March 6, 2023, Dr. Mahmoud Gamal, Assistant Professor and Researcher at the National Research Centre in Egypt, delivered a research seminar titled: “Raf kinases inhibitors as potential anticancer agents”.
Dr. Mahmoud is the recipient of a South Korean government PhD scholarship. During his PhD studies, he focused on the synthesis of novel small chemical entities for the management of certain types of cancer. After his PhD, Dr. Mahmoud worked as an Assistant Professor at Kyung Hee University in South Korea, and served as a postdoctoral visiting scientist at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).

During the research seminar, Dr. Mahmoud presented on his work in South Korea to discover Pan RAF kinase inhibitors and how his research team modified the chemical structures of the produced molecules to maximize their efficacy and safety. He explained that the Suzuki Carbon Carbon reaction was used in the manufacturing procedure to increase the yield of the desired molecule.
The seminar was well-attended by faculty and students, who appreciated the insightful discussion and potential implications for future research.
