College of Pharmacy Faculty Engage in University-Level Workshop on “Standard Setting”

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the College of Pharmacy faculty attended a University-level faculty development workshop on “Standard Setting.” The workshop, led by Professor Salah Kassab, Chair of the Gulf Medical University Assessment Committee and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the College of Medicine, provided an in-depth exploration of standard-setting practices.

The workshop aimed to equip faculty members with valuable insights and strategies for effectively implementing standard-setting practices in their respective fields. Professor Salah Kassab, known for his expertise in assessment methodologies, described the theoretical framework of various methods used in calculating cut scores and standard setting with emphasis.  During the workshop, faculty members had the opportunity to engage in hands-on training on two prominent methods of standard setting: Cohen’s method and the EZ method. Mr. Sakkir Kunhikariyil, Manager of the Office of Assessment at Gulf Medical University, facilitated the practical training session.
