On January 15, 2019, a workshop was organized at Gulf Medical University (GMU) on ‘Future of Medical Education’. The participants were Faculty and staff involved in the teaching/learning process of all the affiliated programs of the university. All the participants were provided with articles from the journal Medical Teacher for their pre-reading. The event started with Welcome address by the Vice Chancellor Academics, followed by the Chancellor’s address.
The participating Faculty members and staff were divided into various cohorts and asked to brainstorm upon the futuristic goals of education in their respective Colleges, keeping in mind the tasks involved in implementing these goals.
During the workshop, the Faculty and staff from the College of Pharmacy, presented in three cohorts, discussed on the ‘Futuristic goals on Pharmacy education’ at the College of Pharmacy. The discussion was mainly focused to improve the pharmacy education at the College level and to provide a more ‘student-centered education’ to achieve ‘patient-centred healthcare’.
