On October 24, 2020, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University started aresearch rotation forstudents from GEMS-GMU Future Scientist of UAE Program in the drug discovery and development lab. The session was conducted by Dr. Eman E-labbad, Assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in pharmaceutical sciences department, Dr. Samiullah Shabbir Ahmad and Dr. Reham Khaled who are Teaching Assistants undertaking a Master degree in Drug Discovery and development at the College of pharmacy. The rotation started with an introductory session explaining thescope of pharmaceutical sciences research in drug discovery. This was followed by a hands-on laboratory session where students practiced skills for proper handling of chemical and laboratory tools in pharmaceutical organic synthesis.

Dr. Eman commented: “it was a great pleasure to host this group of young talented passionate young students. The depth of discussion and skills the students showed in the labwas amazing.Indeed, Future UAE Scientist! “

Dean Sherief Khalifa and Vice Chancellor for Quality & Global Engagement commented: “this program is part of GMU’s accountability to society to give the opportunity to the young minds of UAE to discover their passion and abilities.
