Assessment Of Competencies At The Workplace

The Dean and Faculty from Gulf Medical University (GMU) College of Pharmacy participated in a seminar/workshop on “Assessment of competencies at the workplace” organized by Gulf Medical University on February 2, 2019. The workshop facilitators were Prof. John J. Norcini, President of FAIMER, USA, Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor, GMU and Prof. David CM Taylor, Professor of Medical Education, GMU. The seminar was attended by health professions educators across UAE.

The seminar included small group activities on ‘the strengths and weakness of the workplace based assessments’, and finally the participants collectively arrived at plans for ‘incorporating best practices in assessment of competencies at the workplace in daily life’. Based on case scenarios, active discussions were held on strategies to minimize inter-rater variability while assessing competencies at the workplace.
