World Stroke Day Commemoration

The World Stroke Day is organized on October 29th, every year to provide an opportunity for stroke stakeholders to coordinate awareness and advocacy campaigns and build commitment to reduce the burden of stroke at global, regional and local level. This year World Stroke Day 2017 Theme was “What’s your reason for preventing Stroke”. On the same ground of these objectives, a mini-project on World Stroke day was organized by a group of students of MBBS Ist year, on 30th Oct 2017 at Gulf Medical University, Ajman. The primary aim of this event was to create awareness for the world’s second leading cause of death and disability accounting for 1 in 10 deaths globally.

The participants of this event at GMU raised awareness and shared information on prevalence, types, key risk factors, symptoms, treatment and action required to prevent stroke and initiatives required to improve the damaging effects of stroke worldwide. Some activities and questionnaire related to stroke signs and symptoms were also arranged and active participation of the audience was observed.
