On January 14, 2024, a screening campaign took place at Brilliant International Private School in Sharjah, in partnership with Thumbay Hospital, Sharjah. The objective of the campaign was to evaluate modifiable risk factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and exercise among the staff of the school. Additionally, the screening assessed the presence of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory problems, diabetes, obesity, and any family history of medical conditions. Each person’s BMI was calculated based on height and weight, followed by random blood sugar estimation, dental check-ups, and blood pressure assessment. Following the assessments, individuals were directed to a licensed General Practitioner for consultation, with those requiring further evaluation advised to visit Thumbay University Hospital. Around 150 individuals availed of the services provided by the healthcare team.

This event proved to be an enlightening experience emphasizing the significance of proactive health measures while engaging with parents and students. The atmosphere was characterized by collaboration and heightened awareness, as families seized the opportunity to comprehend potential health vulnerabilities. Discussions ranged from lifestyle choices to hereditary influences, fostering a sense of health consciousness within the school community. Witnessing this collective dedication to well-being was inspiring, reinforcing the notion that preventive measures are crucial for the flourishing future of our students. The screening event emerged as a pivotal moment in promoting a culture of health and resilience.
