Report on Health Education Session on Obesity

A comprehensive health education session on obesity was conducted at Abuobida Ibn Aljarah Private School, Al Jurf, on 4th February 2025. The session was attended by 200 eighth-year male and female students. The students were educated on key aspects of obesity, including its definition, causes, prevention, and treatment. Dr. Hiba Hajomer, faculty member of the Community Medicine Department led the session providing valuable insights into the condition, and emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The discussion covered the definition of obesity, explaining it as an excessive accumulation of body fat that poses health risks. The causes of obesity were explored, highlighting contributing factors such as poor dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles, genetic predisposition, and environmental influences. The session also focused on strategies for preventing obesity, emphasizing the importance of adopting healthy eating habits, engaging in regular physical activity, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Dr. Hiba Hajomer provided practical tips on making healthier food choices and incorporating exercise into daily routines. The session encouraged students to take proactive steps in managing their health and promoted awareness about obesity-related risks, equipping them with knowledge to make informed lifestyle choices.
