GMU Won The ‘Best Presentation Award’ in Bangkok, Thailand

Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Jayadevan Sreedharan, Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics won the ‘Best Presentation Award’ in the session on Tobacco Use during the 4th International Conference on Public Health held in Bangkok, Thailand.

He presented a paper titled “Cross-sectional Study on Tobacco Use among Adult Population in Ajman, UAE” in the 4th International Conference on Public Health 2018 (ICOPH 2018) organized by the International Institute of Knowledge Management from 19th to 21st July 2018. The Conference was held under the theme Promoting Quality and Safety in Healthcare towards Healthy Communities”.

Public health experts from 38 countries participated in the conference. The conference had 30 oral sessions with more than 150 scientific papers and 2 poster sessions with more than 50 scientific papers. The co-authors of this paper are Dr. Jayakumary Muttappallymyalil, Dr. Rizwana B. Shaikh, Prof. Shatha Al Sharbatti and Dr. Sherman Scott. This project was funded by New York University, Abu Dhabi.

Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Provost Academics and Dean, College of Medicine congratulated Prof. Jayadevan for his achievement and lauded his focus on research related to tobacco use.

Prof. Jayadevan Sreedharan, an avid researcher with many publications to his credit is the Program Director of the Master in Public Health (MPH) program offered by the College of Medicine, Gulf Medical University. The MPH program at GMU is offered in collaboration with the University of Arizona, United States which is ranked among the top 1% of the universities worldwide by QS World Ranking 2018. The MPH Program is accredited by the Ministry of Education, UAE and also the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in the United States.
