The MBBS and MD students secured the 1st prize in the Clinical Sciences category at the Undergraduate Research and Innovation Competition (URIC), held on May 29, 2025, and organized by Abu Dhabi University under the esteemed patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. The winning research, titled “Unveiling the Risks and Outcomes of Preeclampsia – A Case-Control Perspective”, was conducted by Preethi Nandagopal, Afreen Abdul Rahim Sanaullah, Sathyapriya Nandagopal, and Shahnaz Mohamed Wazil under the supervision of Dr. Shameema Asif and Dr. Anusha Sreejith.

This study highlights the significance of early identification of clinical and lifestyle risk factors in preeclampsia. It emphasizes that continuous postpartum monitoring, when combined with early identification of risk factors, can significantly improve maternal and neonatal outcomes in the UAE.
