The College of Medicine, Thumbay Institute of Population Health (TIPH), and College of Health Sciences at Gulf Medical University conducted an Ergonomics workshop for laborers to equip them with the strategies to prevent musculoskeletal disorders. The workshop was conducted on 09-03-25 at AASA Middle East Contracting Labor Camp, Ajman, UAE. The session, given by Dr. Rajasekar and Dr. Animesh, focused on preventive strategies to reduce work-related strain and improve Physical, Mental, and Social wellness as part of the Aoun Community Service Initiative, the Nur Al’Amal Project.

Manual work often causes chronic pain, muscle strain, and occupational injury due to poor posture, repetitive movement, and lifting heavy weights. The session provided practical demonstrations of safe lifting techniques, posture correction, and stretching exercises for pain relief and injury prevention. The session also covered the role of diet and hydration in joint and muscle health so that the laborers would understand the nutritional input in physical resilience.

Workers played an active role in interactive exercises and hands-on demonstrations, learning how simple ergonomic adjustments can significantly improve their work efficiency and long-term health. The session was concluded with a Q&A session, where participants clarified doubts and exchanged experiences on work-related pain and injuries.

Through equipping employees with the right knowledge and skills, this training aimed to reduce occupational health risks and aid in a healthier, safer working population. In the future, the Nur Al’Amal team remains committed to expanding workplace safety initiatives, with workers having access to resources that enable long-term wellness and injury avoidance.
