Message from Dean

Greetings from College of Medicine, GMU!

College of Medicine has remained undiminished in its endeavor to impart quality education for the last 18 years of its existence and is all set to grow exponentially in order to meet the ever increasing needs of the students and community.

In addition to our signature MBBS program, College of Medicine also offers the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBMS) program which is a 4-year credit-bearing bachelor program with the graduates trained to become biomedical laboratory scientists. Both the programs offered by the College are aligned to the UAE National Qualification framework at the appropriate levels.

The curricula in our programs have incorporated innovative trends in education with emphasis on a student-centered approach. We also train our students on evidence-based approach to decision making, professionalism and ethics, leadership and teamwork and encourage them to participate in research activities and community services. They learn to become selflearners and life-long learners in order to adapt to the ever-changing advances in the biomedical and clinical field.

The medical students receive clinical exposure to a large number and a wide variety of clinical cases as they are posted in Hospitals under Ministry of Health and Al Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi under SEHA in addition to our own Thumbay  Hospital at Ajman for their clerkship training in order to become safe practitioners of the future. The Biomedical science students receive handson practical training in the well-equipped student laboratories and shall receive experiential learning at the Center for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation (CABRI) located at GMU.

The multi-national and multi-cultural mix of student diaspora is encouraged to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities like Annual GMU Global Day celebrations, debate and sports competitions.

I thank our Founder, President of Board of Governors Mr. Thumbay Moideen for his constant guidance and support. I also thank the Ministry of Health and Prevention,  SEHA & Thumbay Hospitals, Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH) and CABRI for training our students.

Dear students, welcome to the College of Medicine, GMU for a promising and glorious future!

Prof. Manda Venkatramana
