Medical Internship Program

The internship is an obligatory period of experiential learning spanning 52 weeks where the trainee is guided to acquire the knowledge, skill and competencies required to function as an independent medical (general) practitioner and to facilitate entry into postgraduate medical education. Thumbay Hospital, Ajman [JCI accredited] is recognized by the Ministry of Health and Prevention as a Teaching Hospital approved for internship training of GMU graduates.

The aims of the medical internship program are to:

  • Provide ‘on-the-job’ experience under close supervision
  • Provide opportunities to attain appropriate higher skills and competencies before entering the work-place as a basic doctor
  • Provide an insight into the practice of the chosen profession
  • Serve as a strong motivating factor for the learner to continue and specialize further in any chosen field of
  • Provide a crucial operation link between the educational program and postgraduate training and CPD in the continuum of medical education

Eligibility for Internship

  • MBBS degree or its equivalent from an accredited medical institute
  • Valid BLS & ACLS Provider Certification

  • Updated CV listing your personal details, educational qualifications, career goals, your interests, achievements and
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • Letter of Good Standing
  • College / University Transcripts
  • Final Degree or Provisional Degree Certificate
  • Valid BLS & ACLS Provider Certificates
  • Valid passport with valid UAE visa (For local: Family Book)
  • Valid Emirates ID
  • Birth Certificate
  • 6 Recent Passport size photo (white background)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate (Vaccination):
    1. BCG, HBV, and Tetanus are mandatory.
    2. Hemophilus Influenza is optional.
