Medical Internship Program

The Aims of the medical internship program are to provide:

• ‘On-the-job’ experience under close supervision
• Opportunities to attain appropriate higher skills and competencies before entering the workplace as a basic doctor
• An insight into the practice of the chosen profession
• Motivation for the learner to continue and specialize further in any chosen field of study
• A crucial operation link between the educational programs, postgraduate training, and CPD in the continuum of medical education.

Thumbay University Hospital, Ajman is the primary training site for the medical internship program which received Institutional Accreditation by the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) to offer internship and residency programs.

An esthetic Therapeutic Garden facilitates better relaxation and enhanced healing potential.

Being a multispecialty hospital, it houses the various specialties which include Emergency Services, Center for Bone and Joints, Center for Nephrology, Center for Imaging, Center for Obstetrics & Gynecology, Center for Pediatrics and Neonatology, Center for Cardiac Sciences, Center for Endocrinology, Center for Ophthalmology, Center for Neurosciences, Center for Gastroenterology, Center for Surgery, Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Centre for Dermatology & Cosmetology, Center for Urology, Center for Otorhinolaryngology, Center for Long-term care & Rehabilitation, Center for Internal Medicine, Center for Drug Information and Evidence-based Pharmacy, etc. All Laboratory and Transfusion services are provided by the very advanced GMU Laboratory located in Gulf Medical University at Thumbay Medicity, Ajman, in close proximity of the hospital.

To be eligible for internship, applicants should have successfully completed the medical program and obtained the MBBS degree or its equivalent from an accredited medical institute listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. A Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable. Selection shall be through a ‘merit list’ prepared by the Academic office after an interview with the Program Director/Associate Program Director.
