Students & Faculty: Coffee & Cake 2019

On 14 October 2019, the College of Pharmacy organized the annual ‘Coffee & Cake’ for the academic year 2018-19.

The gathering was attended by students and faculty of the College of Pharmacy. Dean Sherief Khalifa shared the College of Pharmacy updates including APPE training and Summer research internship opportunities at Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Saint Joseph and other US institutions. He also encouraged all pharmacy students to participate in community engagement and outreach to practice advocacy for their patients and for the profession.

Senior students and recent alumni participated in an ‘Experience Sharing Question & Answer Session’ where they addressed learning methods, prioritization of tasks, overcoming barriers in learning, the importance of staying organized, identifying areas of interest and specialization and strategies to maintain motivation and focus during undergraduate years.

Following this, the Dean conferred meritorious students from Cohorts 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 chosen for ‘Dean’s List’ and distributed their certificates of achievement.

Dean Khalifa commented: Such gatherings with students are very important for the College, the faculty and the students. It is a great opportunity for us to learn more about our students and to engage in informal discussions with them. It also helps bring senior and junior students closer to each other and promote peer learning and mentorship.
