
Ms. Arzu F. Moosvi, Commonwealth Scholarship applicant and a PharmD students from Virginia Commonwealth University, USA visited College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University on September 22, 2019 to develop a research proposal as part of the student research exchange program between Gulf Medical Universty and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Her primary mentor at GMU is Dr. Syed Wasif, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmacy Practice, who introduced her to the faculty and clinical preceptors. A discussion was held in the Pharmacy Practice lab to explore the patient care models both in Hospital and Community Pharmacies in the UAE, how to further facilitate the research plan, its possible methodologies, feasibility between the various sectors that can be involved, the study timeline, etc. The meeting concluded on the importance of discussing accessibility to healthcare and health literacy for chronic conditions in patients of various educational and economic backgrounds in both hospital and community sectors.
Ms. Arzu’s official visit under the program is expected to commence in the summer of 2020.
