Final year APPE student Ms. Keziah William took her elective advanced clinical rotation at the Oncology department in Tawam hospital during March and April of 2019. Her training was under the highly experienced Oncology pharmacist Dr. Lina Wahba. During her training, she gained knowledge and experience in the In-patient Oncology department, Oncology pharmacy, and the Out-patient Oncology department. In the in-patient Oncology department, she came across more than 20 to 30 metastatic carcinoma cases and interacted with the patients and got the opportunity to actively participate in the ward rounds with Oncology specialists. She also performed two case presentations; Metastatic breast cancer and Metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. She found her training most fruitful and enlightening.
Dean Khalifa commented: We are glad to initiate a partnership with Tawam Hospital with its ties to Johns Hopkins, USA. Soon we will be training our Master in Clinical Pharmacy students in Tawam with focus on the oncology specialty which is very much in demand at this time.
