GMU PharmD student shares Summer Research Internship experience at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA

On 26 September 2018, Ms. Fatiha Hammed, final year PharmD student presented on her Summer Research Internship experiences obtained from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA. The attendees were PharmD students and faculty members from the College of Pharmacy.  This internship is a part of the memorandum of understanding signed between GMU and VCU.

Fatiha visited the VCU for six weeks during the last summer vacation. Over the course of her internship at the Department of Pharmaceutics, VCU,   she visited three laboratories namely Biopharmaceutical analysis lab, Nanopharmaceutics lab, and Drug transport lab, and learned several research techniques related to drug delivery.

Commenting on her internship experience, she said ‘the thought of going to a different environment was at first intimidating, but once I adapted to the change, I realized once again that the PharmD program is very broad, and finding your niche within the profession is better done earlier than later.

Fatiha found her internship experience at VCU educational, informative, and memorable.
